Owners Recommendations
Local Restaurants
If you don't want to eat 'in' or bbq in the garden, there is plenty
of choice, when eating out. Dinan has loads of lovely restaurants and
cafes. Try 'La Terrasse' in the old Port. Also highly recommended are:-
'La Vieille Auberge' in Trefumel. The proprietor is a lovely lady, who
speaks very good English, if you get stuck with your French! The food
and the service are superb. 'Le Relais de la Rance' at Quedillac is
also worth a visit. Haute cuisine!
What to do
This is a wonderful area to explore. The cottage is approx 30 mins
drive to the coast, where there is an abundance of sandy beaches - St.
Cast has 7! Dinard, Erquy, Val-Andre, Cap Frehel and Fort la Latte,
St Malo old town and Mont St Michel are well worth visiting. The north
Breton coastline is beautiful, with rugged cliffs and sandy bays - wonderful
for walking or just lazing in the sun. In summer, there are lots of
childrens beach clubs for supervised activities, so parents can have
some time off too! There are also lots of very lovely walks along the
river Rance and the Canal - try Evran and Treverien. For other local
activities such as :- markets and shopping (shoe supermarkets at Quevert
are great - really cheap but good quality); chateaux and gardens; boat
trips; aquariums; galleries and museums (car museum at Loheac is superb!)
- see the many brochures on file at the cottage. There is something
to interest everyone.
