Description

A perfect base for exploring the delights of Brittany, set in a rural location, yet only minutes from the enchanting city of Dinan.
A delightful Breton stone cottage, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. which sleeps 6 plus baby. Enjoy the character of the oak beamed lounge and comfortable furnishings throughout. Experience the tranquility of the large private garden, ideal for games or just relaxing. Private parking for two cars. Situated in a peaceful hamlet, on the outskirts of St Helen, adjacent to the Forest of Coetquen, which is ideal for walking and cycling, yet only five minutes drive from the popular mediaeval city of Dinan. The cottage is situated in a quiet lane with no through traffic, ideal for children. It has a small secluded garden to the rear and a large private secluded garden just across the lane, adjacent to the forest.

Location

The cottage is located only five minutes drive from Dinan, one of the finest of all Brittany's cities which has lost none of its mediaeval charm. Its numerous half-timbered houses, Romanesque and Gothic churches, picturesque squares and streets take visitors back in time to days long gone. From the top of the 14th century castle you can enjoy a magnificent view of the surrounding countryside. It offers a vast variety of restaurants, boutiques and craft shops, where various craftsmen can be seen practising their traditional skills, romanesque and gothic churches, a castle and museum, together with beautiful gardens and a weekly market.


The PORT OF DINAN offers pleasant walks along the towpath, boat trips and canoeing on the River Rance, or you can just relax in one of the numerous riverside cafes or restaurants.


The village of ST HELEN, less than a mile from the cottage, has a shop for daily provisions,a friendly bar with pool table, a tennis court, boules pitch and a hard court play area. There is a well stocked fishing lake which holds regular competitions within walking distance from the cottage. Several large supermarkets can be found within a few miles.

Beautiful sandy beaches are not only found on the coast but also on local lakes and rivers, just 10 mins drive from the cottage

The "Emerald Coast", with its sandy beaches, Mont-Saint-Michel, Saint-Malo and Rennes are all within easy reach. Excellent golf courses are located in the region, as well as horse-riding, fishing and watersports. There is a wide range of attractions in the region to cater for all tastes and ages.

Accommodation

The ground floor has a spacious oak beamed lounge/diner with a log burner and English satellite TV and DVD player; a large modern kitchen, with gas oven, microwave, fridge, automatic washing machine and breakfast bar; shower room with shower, washbasin and wc.


The first floor has one double bedroom with travel cot, further bedroom with bunk beds (3ft wide) and bathroom/wc. Steep stairs lead to a further double bedroom. Duvets, blankets and pillows are provided. All floors have heaters. The garden is equipped with garden furniture and BBQ. If required, bed linen can be provided, also high chair. Also benefits from mains drainage.
