Accommodation

Our Accommodation is a Mobile Home and Caravan
For the fishing widow who does not want to bivvy up or for a relaxing family holiday, we have a very comfortable, well laid out mobile home which sleeps 4 with 2 bedrooms 1 double and 1 twin. It has a shower room, toilet, cooker and hob, microwave, CD player, books, TV and DVD player - all the home comforts you need for a great holiday. The caravan sleeps 2 and also has kitchen facilities.
Bait Cabin
The bait cabin has bait preparation facilities, fridge/freezer, shower, toilet so you can keep all the messy fishing gear outside of your accommodation.

Description

Hunters Retreat is a 5 acre fishing lake in the Loire, 10 minutes away from the historical town of Chateaubriant and 4 Km from the picturesque village of St Aubin Des Chateaux which has all the amenities you will need, including a bar which does meals. It is also only 5 minutes to our local creperie / restaurant.

We (Pam and Mark)moved from the UK in 2001 and have set up a very successful self catering holiday home business with 2 cottages set in 17 acres of private land, which also has a small fishing lake with carp up to 20lb plus perch, tench, roach, common, mirror, grass and Crucian carp

The lake was bought in 2004 and was completely emptied and de-silted. Mark being an avid angler he restocked it with mirror, common, grass and wild carp plus sturgeon, pike and black bass. The lake was reopened in 2009 and the lake record stands at a 44lb common carp (named "Rocky" by our first client who caught it, breaking his PB ). All the fish are in pristine condition and are gaining weight all the time.

As a new venture the business was built on our reputation for quality and expertise to ensure you have a great holiday and want to return. Fishing is limited to 3 fishermen at a time to ensure the fish remain in good condition. You will also have exclusivity if you book the lake, so no-one else will be fishing alongside you. You will have complete solitude apart from the wildlife!

The Region

Things To Do In The Area
We have a lot of different brochures and information available on site to help you plan your activities and most towns have a Tourist Office where you can discover hundreds of more things.

One local place we would recommend to visit is Vioreau. This is a local reservoir within a 25 minute drive, where there is a man-made beach and in the high season there are life guards to monitor the various designated depth swimming areas, pedal boat hire, showers, toilets, picnic areas with benches, forests, peaceful walks , a cafe/bar and restaurant plus loads of parking... in fact many of our guests never ever bother driving to the coast after visiting Vioreau.

In Chateaubriant there is a market every Wednesday, the chateau is a 17th century castle in the centre of town, plus mini golf and ten pin bowling. In addition there is an open air swimming pool in Nozay,

Other attractions include the Jules Verne museum, Planete Sauvage safari park and Zoo de la Boisserie.
